FRIST WILL PASS ON 2008 PRESIDENTIAL RACE.
November 30, 2006 - 07:16
Tennessee Senator Bill Frist will NOT be a candidate for President in 2008. That doesn't mean he won't be a VICE PRESIDENTIAL candidate. The fact that Frist decided not to run at this point rather than wasting a lot of donor money to run a race he was unlikely to win shows again that this guy has a lot of smarts and class. The problem he faced was not that he is not smart enough to be good President; nor that he doesn't have the experience to be a good President; nor even that he doesn't have the work ethic or character to be a good President. Bill Frist was OVER qualified on all those counts. His problem was that as Majority Leader he appeared to be in over his head in the rough political waters in Washington, DC, and he did not lead on the issues that really matter to most Americans and most Tennesseans. Running for President based upon his track record as Majority Leader would have been a disaster for Frist, and he wisely recognized that fact. Unlike many professional athletes who overstay their time because they cannot recognize reality, Bill Frist has a solid grasp on reality and does not try to tweak it beyond recognition to fit his desires. For that, he should gain even MORE respect among Tennessee voters. CLICK HERE.
Here is a link to some additional analysis about the Frist decision. CLICK HERE.

RUDY: THE UNDERDOG WHO IS REALLY THE FRONT RUNNER.
November 30, 2006 - 10:21
Most political pundits say Senator John McCain is the front runner for the Republican nomination for President in 2008. But that is not what the polls actually say. Rudy Guiliani is in the prime spot: a front runner who everybody thinks is behind. CLICK HERE. |

TENNESSEE LAWMAKERS LOOKING AT TAXING DRIVERS BY THE MILE.
November 30, 2006 - 07:22
Tennessee legislators are concerned that more and more drivers are turning to vehicles that get more MPG -- thereby reducing the gasoline taxes collected by Tennessee. Well, let's be more specific here. Lobbyists for the ROAD BUILDERS, who get their money from gasoline taxes, are concerned about the issue, so their puppets in the legislature are trying to do something to help the flow of OUR money into the pockets of THEIR friends and benefactors. This is simply a play to INCREASE gas taxes without calling it a tax increase. You don't seriously think they are looking at this new plan in order to SAVE taxpayers money do you? State Senator Mark Norris joined us on the show today and said the Tennessean story is simply INCORRECT. That the Transportation committee is NOT considering this and that his push is to make sure the Bredesen Administration stops poaching funds from the gas tax for other projects. Overall, there are hundreds of millions of dollars that have been taken from road projects and spent on Bredesen's pet projects over the past 4 years, despite a time when Tennessee has seen hundreds of millions of dollars in surplus tax revenue. Stay tuned for more on this story. CLICK HERE. |

DEMOCRATS ALREADY BACKTRACKING ON PRE-ELECTION PROMISES.
November 30, 2006 - 07:26
During the 2006 elections the Democrats constantly promised to enact ALL the recommendations of the 9-11 Commission. But now that Democrats are poised to take power in the House and Senate they are balking at certain recommendations that might reorganize oversight over intelligence gathering and restrict some of their power. WHO ARE THE HOTTEST FEMALE DISNEY CHARACTERS?
November 30, 2006 - 11:24
Somebody, not me, actually compiled a list. The funniest aspect of the list are the pros and cons cited for each pick. Jessica Rabbit wins the top spot, but technically (as opposed to technocolor) I am not sure she really qualifies as a "Disney" character. I also have a problem seeing Snow White as "hot." CLICK HERE.

AFRICA FACES AN OBESITY PROBLEM?
November 30, 2006 - 07:29
I guess we are sending too much aid to Africa. More than a third of African women and about a quarter of African men are "overweight" according to a new report by the World Health Organization. People there are apparently reluctant to diet because if they lose weight people might think they have AIDs. CLICK HERE. |

SOME DISPUTES ARISING REGARDING LOCATION OF BILLION DOLLAR BOONDOGGLE.
November 30, 2006 - 07:35
The supporters of a new Nashville Convention Center, which is likely to set taxpayers back about a billion dollars, seem pretty set on exactly where they want it to go. Does that give us an indication of which property owners are greasing the skids to get the Convention Center built where they will benefit? CLICK HERE. |

CORRUPTION IN KNOXVILLE?
November 30, 2006 - 09:04
Are taxpayer dollars funding local projects in Knoxville on a "who you know" basis? It certainly looks that way. Mayor Bill Haslam needs to stay away from drug dealers and underhanded money dealings if he wants to run for statewide office. CLICK HERE. |
